Hello Friday

Hi Everyone!

I'd like you to meet Ernesto Neto. He is considered one of Brazil's leaders of the contemporary art scene. His inspiration comes partly from Brazilian neo-concretism of the 1950s and the 60s movement’s of lygia clarc and hélio oiticica. The movements wanted to equate art with living organisms in a kind of organic architecture and invite the viewer to be an active participant.

I just love it, it's weird and wonderful!

Have a happy weekend
Enjoy!

Hello Friday!

We've been back for a few months from our much needed vacation and I'm ready to go back, permanently! I'm so looking forward to the day when we will have a place to call home in Maui.

Waking up to the sound of the ocean caressing the shore is a way I'd like to start my day everyday.

I dream of decorating our Maui home...

I'm thinking I'd like an all white color palate with shades of blue and aqua, I know it's typical but bringing in the color of nature is always winner. Who doesn't like the color of sky, beach and water?

I don't want a typical Hawaiian theme but a few kitschy touch's will be fun! I can see this in the kitchen.

I love the texture and dark color of the wood flooring.Typically in Hawaiian homes tile is used to keep your feet cool and the sand at bay. But I would prefer this to tile in the kitchen.

I'll continue to dream up interiors through the grey Seattle days that lay ahead until the day I can call Maui my home.

          Until then Aloha!

                                                       Fall 2013

Romance Was Born, a creation of two Australian designers Anna Plunkett and Luke Sale. I love the crazy colors and patterns! This collection is called Kawaii Hawaii and is inspired by the ceremony and shapes of traditional Japanese dress including the Mon, which are Japanese emblems or family crests. Shapes of tiki culture from Hawaii in the 50's are integrated in to the pieces as well. It's so much fun!!!

                                                  Enjoy!

Hello Friday!

Hi Everyone!

I'm so excited about the new fabrics I have coming into the studio, I look forward to making pretty things with them! I just love hand made textiles, while I do dyeing myself there are so many ancient ways to create beautiful fabrics.

Here's a few:

                                                                  Hand Looming

Hand looming is one of the oldest techniques to make fabric and is traditionally done with silks. The oldest form still used today is the Jamdani technique from India, elaborate designs are embroidered by hand (traditionally gold or silver thread) into the fabric while it is being woven. It's origin is from about 300 BC and it makes the finest of fabrics.

                                                           Hand Block Printing
Hand block printing is around three centuries old and started in Gujurat, India. The blocks are hand carved out of teak or rorda wood and then soaked in oil over night. They are then washed and ready to use.

There is nothing like handmade fabrics or anything for that matter! Remember how special it is, made with heart and it may cost a bit more but I think it's worth it. Support your local artisans and lets not lose these wonderful arts and artist!

                                                         Enjoy!

                                                                            Fall 2013

Erica's Fall collection is rocking! What I really like is that she used a mature woman to model her collection. I'm crushing on that idea, it's fantastic. Her model is beautiful in the camisole and skirt, who say's you cant wear strappy after 60? The fabrics and silhouettes are really nice. My favorite is the bottom photo, I love the whole look, it's comfortable, fun and warm. I'm kind of sweet on the lavender coat and dress too!

Hello Friday!

Hi Everyone!

The weekend is almost here, yippee! I love laying in bed a little longer on Saturday and Sunday, it feels very luxurious. Eileen Fisher has teamed up with Garnet Hill and together they have created some silky, softly textured bedding.

I really like the color pallet, I love those greys, taupes and smokey salmons. It makes me want to sip my coffee in bed...

I just adore a chunky throw, don't you? This is the
                                              Ceannis Chunky Throw

The Legna Sheets are from ABC Carpet and Home my all time favorite store in NYC. They are made with wood fiber harvested from responsibly managed forests and are biodegradable and free of chemical bleaches, dyes, finishes and formaldehyde.

The Kumi Kookoon silk bedding is also from ABC Home. Aren't they luscious?

I like this bed from Restoration Hardware. It looks soft, peaceful and calm. To get a comfortable bed you have to mix textures, colors and use lot's of feathers.

I really love this bedroom from Elle Decor! Look at all that fluff, sleeping in that bed must be heavenly...

                                                               Have a happy weekend,
                                                              Enjoy!
