Hello Friday!

Hello Everyone,

We've been working hard in our outdoor space getting it ready for those sunny days when we can move outside (I'm looking forward to my first meal cooked on the grill). I've gathered some pic's of beautiful outdoor spaces that might inspire an update to your outdoor home.

I really love this deck and all of it's casualness. The windows are pretty great too and the potted plants soften hard edges and make it very inviting.

I love this deck from Tom Filicia, I could spend all day out here. It has such a rustic Norwegian look to it, so perfect for the NW.

This space just makes me want to exhale and breath in all of that fresh air. I love series of doors.

Outdoor living just calls for an adult beverage and not the usual beer and wine. This is a Monkeylada doesn't it look delicious...

Ingredients:
2 very ripe bananas
1 cup pineapple juice
1/2 cup “lite” coconut milk
3 cups ice cubes
6 ounces (3/4 cup) light rum

Preparation:
Puree bananas, diced pineapple, pineapple juice, coconut milk and ice in a blender. Stir in rum. Divide among 4 glasses. Garnish with pineapple wedge.
Thank you Eating Well Magazine!

This is a wonderful outdoor living room with a fireplace for those chilly San Fransisco evenings.

With a little hard work we can create beautiful spaces outdoors. Have a happy weekend.
                                                   Enjoy!

Design Crush

                                                                  Erica Tanov
                                                 Spring/Summer 2013

Back in the days of being a boutique owner we used to go to shows for designers to showcase their new collections. One of my favorite things about the shows was finding new talent. I met Erica Tanov nearly ten years ago and loved what she was doing. Over the years her talent has really grown and what I'm crushing on is the simplicity of the silhouettes and the unusual vibrant colors of her fabrics. To execute a simple silhouette is actually very hard to do right and Erica's are really done well.

Erica now has four lovely boutiques where you can purchase her wearables.
You can also shop online  http://www.ericatanov.com/

                                                         Enjoy!

Hello Friday!

Hello Everyone,

The weekend is here and I'm ready to put my toes in the sand, well maybe my hands. As an artist I'm always looking for a new media to work in and I'm fascinated with sand art. All across the globe are amazing artist who work in beach sand, I never knew it could be so detailed and beautiful.

I love this giant face and it's abstraction. It reminds me of a Dali sculpture.

These creations are really quite sophisticated and complex.

This one is by Peter Donnelly from Christchurch New Zealand, it's very feminine and cosmical.

DESIGN CRUSH

                                                        BurningTorch
                                                                                                             Summer 2013

I have always had a crush on Burning Torch, it's designed by Karyn Craven and I love her style. The unique fabrics and feminine shapes are what have attracted me. I love that Karyn recycles fabrics as well. Her up-cycled cashmere is simply wonderful, if you haven't seen it you must take a look. Each season she designs a collection that makes me want to own every piece. Karyn also creates clothing and accessories for men and babies. Soon to be added to her list of creations will be the Burning Torch retreat to escape and rejuvenate the senses. I'm sure it will be as luxurious as her clothing. You can find Burning Torch at: www.burningtorchinc.com

                                                                             Enjoy!

Hello Friday!

Hello Everyone!

The surfing season is upon us in the NW and I can't wait to purchase a new surfboard.  I love a nose rider although I'm still not that comfortable walking around my board much to hang anything! I love to just cruise along on top of the wave and try to stay up.

I'm really intrigued by all of the design choices out there. It's kinda hard to
pick one. They are all so pretty!

A hardcore surfer wouldn't pick a girly style board but I would because I believe style and function go together well. And lets face it I'm a girl!

I do however like this one because it's tye dye and just right for me don't you think?

                                          Have a happy weekend!

Design Crush

                                                                       Emerson Fry
                                                       Spring 2013

Emerson Fry was started by Emerson Bethany Fry in 2009 under the name Emersonmade. Since then her company has grown with leaps and bounds and it's easy to see why. Emerson started out as a painter and continued her education in fashion with select classes focusing on draping techniques, it's obvious she has pure natural talent in design. I'm really crushing on the navy blue and orange trimmed dress! It's tailored and fun like the rest of her pieces. I love stories of success like this one. Best of luck Bethany and keep bringing us good design.
                                                         Enjoy!

Hello Friday!

Those of you who know me know I'm space geek, I love the field of astrophysics. I like to contemplate space, time and creation and it something I have tried to incorporated into my work as a painter but Mihoko Ogaki does it much better. Sometimes you find that artist who can interpret feelings and ideas better than you can. Mihoko Ogaki is from Toride, Japan and has created a zen like intelligent world in her art about the cycles of life on a universal scale. I think it's really quite beautiful and eternal. I love that the human form is embodied in the Milky Way because really we're all made from star dust.  I hope you enjoy her work as much as I do. Tell me what you think?
                                                    Enjoy!
