DESIGN CRUSH

                                                                  ANTIK BATIK
                                                                     SUMMER 2013

I have always loved this line from France. One of the things I really like is they always have beautiful bohemian prints and lovely silhouettes (I'm really crushing on the pink and black top!). I love the fact that they are true to their style and don't change with trends. They are a line of clothing you can always count on to be perfect. You can find Antik Batik at special boutiques or you can shop on-line.

Hello Friday!

Ballard Sunday Market
                        Hi Everyone!

Yea it's the weekend and I'm looking forward to going to one of the Sunday Farmers Market's. I'm starting to see some early peas and other yummy produce. I can't wait for warmer weather to come so we can have more fresh veggies and flowers. It's amazing that we can grow so many things in the NW, our farmers are miracle workers. I have a hard time growing anything but lettuce and carrots...not enough sun.

When I travel I always find out where the farmers markets are. I still cook for my family while were away and like to try new local flavors of the region. I love the town of Makawao in Maui. They have a fun and festive market and it's nice to be up in the hills on those hot Hawaiian days.

When we are on the Big Island (Hawaii) we go to the Hilo Farmers Market. You can find some beautiful local color. They also have wonderful crafts so you can find something unique to bring home.

Expand your experience of travel by checking out what the local farmers grow. You never know what might become your new favorite taste and give a big thanks to our farmers!

                                     Isabel Marant
                                      Spring 2013

Isabel Marant's is typically known for her tomboy meets bohemian look but this spring it's all about the feminine. I love the flowing sheer silks, the embroidered details and the hippie prints. I can just see these pieces being worn out in the night life of Honolulu on a dreamy beach vacation.

                                                    Enjoy!

Hello Friday!

Tropical Exterior design by Hawaii Architect Dinmore & Cisco Architects, Inc.

Hello Everyone,

It's been a very grey and cold winter and I can't help but dream about the day when my family will be living in Maui. This house is what we would like to find or build in paradise. I love the old Hawaiian style of architecture wedded to modern aesthetics. I can't wait to wake up every morning and drink my coffee on that porch!

Valerie McMurray's Home/Birch+Bird
This is Valerie McMurrays home and I love how casual and chic it is, perfect for the beach.

This is what the outdoor shower would look like. You have to have one when you live on the beach especially if you surf!

Susan Rockford Painting "Tribute to Poet" Acrylic on canvas, 2008.

Of course no home is complete without art work. This is an encaustic painting by Susan Rockford, I just love her work. The colors evoke the ocean and would look perfect on our walls.
                                                      Enjoy!

                                               Humanoid Spring 2013

Davit Dress

Noah Skirt

Willow Wrap

Pope Dress

Humanoid does it again this spring with easy pieces that mix up really well. I love the colors and textures of the fabrics so modern yet comfortable. All of the pieces shown here are ageless and timeless and will go from work to weekend nicely. It's hard to find Humanoid in the States but if you are elsewhere in the world (lucky you!) you can shop on-line or visit one of their stores.

Hello Friday!

Here we are at Friday again with thoughts on the weekend. I don't know about you but I love coffee. When the weekend comes I treat myself to my favorite barista drink, my cup of joy is short split soy latte. I love the creama most of all.
Here are some of my favorite places to grab a cup of happiness!

The Coffee Store- 5095 Napilihau St, Napili, HI
The Coffee Store in Napili is where I go when I'm in Maui (look at the Plumeria foam). They are super friendly and make me feel like Kama-aina.
The Coffee Store

Barista in the Pearl District of Portland
 is another favorite of mine.

Barista 539 NW 13th Portland, OR

I have been known to pull off the freeway and head into the Pearl just to get my fix. They also have a web store: shop.baristapdx.com

Cafe Fiore in Seattle is an organic coffee house. They make exceptional crafted coffees. There are several locations around town.

DESIGN CRUSH

Gary Graham
Spring collection 2013

Louis Culafroy Silk Twill Top with Medieval Drape Button Skirt & Dark Army Ankle Pant
Louise Cularfroy Strap Dress
Marseille Stripe Dress

Oh how I love Gary Graham! His choice and use of fabrics is always cutting edge and beautiful. I absolutely love the pleat work on the Louis Culafroy top and the pale shimmery colors are knocking me out. I also like contrasting darker fabric that is playing against the feminine. I really wish I would have designed this collection.

You can soon shop this collection at his website

Enjoy!
