Hello Friday!

Hello Everyone!

Ice cream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Kids aren't the only ones who love this creamy cold confection, adults love it too. Sometimes it's the traditional flavors that we crave and other times it's the exotic.

Ono Gelato

When we're in Maui we always go to Ono Gelato (Ono means delicious) after a long day of hard play at the beach. Ono has many delicious tropical flavors to choose from. My favorite flavors are pineapple and coconut, it's a Pina Colada on a cone! Ono has three locations Lahaina (our neighborhood), Paia Town and Kehei. They will also ship anywhere in the country.

Hawaii also has a slow food movement going on. In jumps Ono Pops (not affiliated with Ono Gelato) using local grown organic produce and ingredients. Ono Pops combines the flavors of Mexico and Hawaii to delight your senses. Try the Pepper Pitt, a pop of mango, habanero and lime. You can find Ono Pops in many grocery stores and at farmers markets across the Islands.

If you have a ice cream maker you can really get creative with styles and flavors. Being from the NW I love any kind of berry. Here is a great recipe to try to make yourself.

Yield: 6 Servings
Ingredients:
3 cups fresh blackberries
3 cups yogurt cheese (or Greek yogurt)
1 can sweetened condensed milk ( 14 ounce can, it’s fine if it’s a bit more or a bit less)

Directions:
In a blender, puree the blackberries with the sweetened condensed milk.
In a medium bowl mix the puree with the yogurt cheese.
Pour the mixture in to your ice-cream maker and follow the manufacturer’s directions.

And locally we love Parfait! Parfait is an ice cream truck that stops in different neighborhoods every afternoon. It's 100% organic, made with care AND they hand roll their cones daily, a labor of love for sure. They are the only handmade ice cream made from scratch in Seattle. I love the Apricot Sorbet, it tastes like sunshine...

                                             Have a happy weekend!
                                                        Enjoy!
