Oh my gosh, this line from Mara Hoffman makes me so happy! I'm crushing on the fabrics, I just love the colors and patterns. One of the reasons it works so well is that the silhouettes are simple.I love the looseness of the dresses and tunics. I like the idea of the capri's as well. This collection is wonderful for a sun soaked vacation!
I was reading one of my favorite blogs (la maison boheme) and
I came across this story/photo essay about the working women of WWII.
These photos have been restored and they are beautiful. They are our
grandmothers, mothers, sisters and cousins. It's so inspiring to see
these women doing typical male jobs, especially for that time. They were
beautiful, skilled and had moxie.
Enjoy!

Hello Everyone! I've been busy in the studio creating a new collection of summer fun! Although we're transitioning into fall, I still like to wear my summer frocks with chunky sweater and boots.
I've been searching for the perfect Cowichan sweater, they are made by the Cowichan Indians of British Columbia. Cowichan are also Coast Salish people and so am I. I'm descended from Cubshalista of the Samish Tribe of the San Juan Islands and mainland. And being cousins makes me what to have one even more! They are perfect sweaters for the beach.

I love the beach in the fall, you can watch the storms come in and still have days of sun. September also is a good month for surfing around here, after that it gets to cold and rough for me.
Big bonfires are necessary at the beach in the fall and nice blanket to wrap up in while you toast your smore's and drink a cold ale. Here are some fall beach essentials I've picked out...
Tracy Reese has really grown in her craft. She has created a collection the feels more like couture than boutique brand and I love it all. The patterns, color and silhouettes are just very pleasing to me.
I really love this collection from Antonio Marras. The color pallet, the shape of the garments, and the whimsy. I have a thing for jackets and I LOVE all of them. This feels grown up and yet fun! Enjoy!
Today I'm going to talk about Indigo. Indigo is a natural color that is used all over the world and has been for centuries. How did our ancestors, separated by the continents, use the exact same methods of cultivating, harvesting, extracting the colorant and prepare the dye bath? How did they know that such a beautiful color lie within the fibers of the leaves? And how did they know that they needed a mordant to fix the color? Ancient knowledge. It is truly amazing!
I look forward to next spring and summer to wear this gorgeous color. I love paring it with crisp white.
